on Feb 11th, 20061787 Chateau d’Yquem = $90,000 (Corkage Extra)

The idea of paying $90,000 for a bottle of white wine is about as shocking as Donald Rumsfeld admitting he made a few miscalculations in waging the Iraq war. With bundles of funny money being slipped into lobbyists’ pockets, why should it be so shocking to read that someone decided to buy themself a nice bottle of rare wine instead of buying off another senator or congressman.

The Antique Wine Company has broken the current Guinness World Record for the world’s most valuable single bottle of white wine. The bottle of 1787 Chateau d’Yquem was purchased by an American client for the record breaking sum of 90,000 US dollars, breaking the previous record of 56,000 dollars set in 1985.
