When you visit Disneyland as a kid, everything seems so real and alive that you can’t imagine a world that isn’t filled with such good friends as Mickey, Donald, and Snow White. It may cost a fortune, but since your parents take care of that, the only thing that matters is having a good time. But as you run from ride to ride, you just might discover that it’s a little hard to breathe. So you pull out your inhaler and shoot your lungs full of chemicals that relieve the stress.

Industrialization is not all it’s cracked up to be. China will one day have to confront the fact that their rapid growth has come at the expense of their own well-being. Throughout the United States, thousands if not millions of kids grow up suffering from asthma. To help create awareness of this health condition, a former Disney animator, John Ewing, was recruited to spread the word about its harm if left untreated.

He helped create classics such as The Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians and Sleeping Beauty. Now one of Disney’s leading animators has been drawn out of semi-retirement to lend his magic touch to an asthma TV campaign released next week.

The asthma ad features a small girl who suffers an asthma attack after going for a ride on a floppy bunny, and ends with the message that asthma can kill.
