on May 27th, 2007Germany’s Post-Pension Silver Workers Rehired

Good news from Germany! Seniors are being hired despite many of them taking early retirement from short-sighted employers. They are known as Silver Workers. Who cares what they’re called, as long as there’s a bathroom nearby, I’m sure most of them will find contentment returning to their old jobs. When all you’ve done is work you’re whole life, I guess you have nothing better to do with your time than dream about how happy you were working for someone else….yeah, right.

There are 690,000 part-time workers in Germany who have passed the legal retirement age. If you add to that figure people under 65 who went into early retirement but have returned to work, there are 1.5 million people now working for a living who, only a few years ago, would have been completely written off by society as unemployable.
