Remember that whole dust-up involving James Frey’s book A Million Little Pieces? You know, how Frey, as an author, passed off some experiences as real when in fact it may have been a teensy bit fictional. Since Oprah pushed his book on her show, she felt morally obligated to respond to her viewers when they expressed outrage that a writer had made up some details in the interest of telling a more dramatic story. Sacre Bleu!
Well, Oprah herself needs to do a little explaining according to editor Nan Talese. It seems Oprah was more interested in ratings and pimping herself out as the moral dictator than simply telling y’all to get over it…writers lie all the time!
