Hollywood loves to remake movies. It’s cheaper than taking a chance on an unknown story that has yet to find an audience. If a story played well in one country, it most likely will play well in America…usually. Comedy is the one genre that sometimes has trouble crossing the border. Screen Gems and Constantin Film just bought the rights to remake the 1995 German film, Der Bewegte Mann, which itself was based on Ralph Konig’s comics.
The new title: Maybe…Maybe not. It’s a story about a womanizer who gets booted out of his girlfriend’s apartment. He ends up moving in with an elderly gay man who recruits his friends to help his new roommate win back the girl. Sounds commercial. Good setup. So does that mean another starring role for Ian McKellan?
