Losing the ability to speak would be a catastrophe for a nosy neighbor. I mean, really, the thought of getting through the day without ringing up a few neighbors to inform them of the latest town gossip would simply be unthinkable, darling.
Breaking a few vertebrae and ending up in the hospital unable to communicate because you’re on a respirator, though, is a whole different situation. A Slashdot reader wants to know if there are any good two-way communication systems available for those who lose the ability to speak. How do you keep up the spirits of someone who may be prone to depression over their mangled condition?
