on Aug 27th, 2007Chicago Adult Day Care Centers Financially Struggling
The burden of the caregiver is relentless. Quite often the health of the caregiver deteriorates at the same or accelerated rate of the person they are trying to help. Adult day care centers are designed to provide activities for those suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. The problem: caregivers think nobody can take care of their loved one better than them. As a result, the adult day care center business model is on shaky ground, at least in Chicago and the rest of the state. The centers need visitors, but probably due to the cost, caregiving families think the service is unnecessary.
Think again, my friends. What’s the point of letting your health get messed up in the name of pride. It’s time to enjoy life while you can and stop convincing yourself adult day care centers are bingo parlors. Get in your car and go check out your local adult day care center. Know our options. It just might make your life easier.
