on Sep 1st, 2007Home Care Costs Splits CBGB Family into Sour Notes
The problem: “My mom needs home care and it costs a lot of money.”
The setup: Hilly Kristal, the owner of CBGB club in New York, died and left his daughter, Lisa Burgman, as executor of his will. Hilly’s mother, Kara, 82, was president of CBGB but signed over her shares in the company to Hilly before suffering debilitating strokes. Now Kara requires home health caregiving but Lisa says there’s no money in the estate to cover the cost, despite Kara being Hilly’s business partner for 35 years.
The moral: help yourself first, before you will away your assets to your greedy children. Otherwise your final years may be more like a trip to Hades without any caregiving maties.
