on Sep 6th, 2007Bad Iraq News Always Countered by “Fake” Terror Plot Arrests?
Is it just me or does the Bush administration orchestrate a splashy terror plot bust every time there’s bad news about his Iraq policy? Once again right on the day of judgment, when Gen. David H. Petraeus reports on whether “the surge” is working, lo and behold a couple of terrorists are conveniently rounded up and there’s a declaration that a major catastrophe was averted. It feels like I’m watching Casablanca for the umpteenth time and Bush gives out the command to “round up the usual suspects.”
I could understand it if it was President Reagan barking such orders, but when it’s the most incompetent President in history, these “events” all seem suspect. They are a PR distraction meant to change the top news cycle story. Google needs to write an algorithm to predict this kind of behavior so we can ignore it as just one more tabloid story coming out of the White House.
Hello, Mr. President, we are 5 years into this “war” and there is still no semblance of an Iraqi government. The days of the American people treating you like a dry drunk who needs constant enabling in order to make ourselves believe you really are turning the Iraqi corner are over. Save your promises for political rehab. We’re tired of listening to the sound of empty words.
