on Mar 18th, 2008Elderly U.S. Immigration Facilitated By Family Already Living Here
Those living near the Mexican border know first hand that an imaginary line separating one country from another doesn’t mean a whole hell of lot in terms of restricting the flow of non-US citizens into this country. If you can find a way into this country, legal or otherwise, then anything goes because the enforcement of immigration laws is like a kid holding a popsicle up to the sun: pointless.
Those sons and daughters who have foreign parents, though, face a dilemma: aging parents need a final resting place. It’s pretty hard to look after your parents if they’re thousands of miles away. So they are brought to this country only to suffer, apparently, a sense of bewilderment and depression.
Funny, after 8 years of the incompetent Bush Administration, that’s EXACTLY what a fair portion of the electorate is feeling as well. Welcome to the U.S.! Home of the ripped off and Land of the pathological CEOs who couldn’t run a business based on following the rules even if you paid them millions of dollars.
